1971-1973 Project Picture Gallery
Right now I'm adding pics of my projects, later I'll accept others!
When I started looking for a 'Stang to
restore I had difficulty finding anything!
Everyone wanted $1000 for basketcases,
but after awhile I found a '72 Grande
complete for $275. I thought I had really scored a huge deal. The problems I knew about included: knocking motor, bad floor pans, some "pin hole" rust in the trunk
floor and in the taillight panel. At firstI really debated if I should buy it until my 1986 Grand Prix got hit while parked; the money from the insurance settlement was $500 and the G.P. didn't look too bad so I did it! After a 90 mile drive
back on top of farm trailer (CAUTION: THESE
THINGS ARE INCREDIBLY TALL!!!) the car
arrived home. As soon as it got home it
snowed so the "inspection" process was
delayed awhile. About 2 days later (Mid Feburary
1998) one 1972 Mustang Grande rolled off
the farm trailer only to have the exhaust
(dual glass packs) get caught on the ramps
and tear them off. :( Soon I was to learn
what $275 buys. After a day of removing
all the "junk", I was to reveal one stop
sign patching the floor pan damage and
more rust then I knew what to do with.
But that didn't stop me I loved the thought
of this project and was determined to
fix the car. About a month later I
realized if I did all the body work, I
would have $1500+ in replacement panels
OUCH! So I started unbolting anything
I could keep and started looking for
another car to fix up. After 4-5 months
I came across another coupe in Kansas.
I also learned it had a freshly rebuilt
Cleveland and C-6, things were starting
to look up. :) After a month of planing
and locating a real "car" trailer I
went to get the coupe. When I arrived
to the location I noticed the car was
is awesome shape, only thing need replacing
was floorpans and fender aprons. For
$750 the car was purchased and my friend
and we were on our way back to Missouri.
MORAL OF THE STORY SO FAR- Basketcases
come from someone not realizing what
they were getting into, rebuilding a car
takes a moderate amount of money and a
LOT OF TIME AND PATIENCE.

On the road again, I just can't... (I WISH!)
